Loanees report

Five Eintracht players are out on loan this season, with some enjoying better fortunes than others.

Goals increasing in number and importance

Dejan Joveljic joined Wolfsberger AC for a year at the end of August. The 21-year-old has found the net six times in the league so far, as well as scoring the winning goal against Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League, which sent the Austrian club through to the knockout stages.

Regulars before injuries

Frederik Rönnow and Goncalo Paciencia are both on loan at Bundesliga basement boys Schalke 04 until the end of the season. While the striker was a regular starter straight away, the goalkeeper took a little longer to break into the team, starting all seven matches in October and November. Paciencia is currently sidelined following knee surgery in late November, with no date yet for the 26-year-old’s return. Rönnow was then hit by a thigh injury, but he is hoping to be fit for the reunion with Eintracht at Deutsche Bank Park on 17 January.

Shining light for strugglers

Rodrigo Zalazar has played in all 13 of St. Pauli’s matches in the first half of the season as well as in the first round of the DFB Cup, starting 12 times and scoring three goals. The only downside for the Uruguayan: the team are currently lying in 17th place in Bundesliga 2.

Future uncertain

Nils Stendera moved to fourth-tier side Lok Leipzig in September and featured in all of the seven possible regional league games before play was suspended at the end of November due to the coronavirus pandemic.
