Three Eagles on top

André Silva and Portugal got their EURO campaign off to a perfect start, while Kamada and Hrustic celebrated group wins in World Cup qualifying.

André Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo.

André Silva came on for Diogo Jota in the 81st minute of Portugal’s 3-0 win over Hungary in Budapest, played out in front of 67,155 fans. The victory puts the reigning European champions top of Group F after the first round of matches.

Kevin Trapp meanwhile was on the bench for Germany’s 1-0 loss to France in Munich.

Kamada and Hrustic keep piling up the wins

On Tuesday lunchtime there was another World Cup qualifier for Daichi Kamada’s Japan, and this time he was an unused substitute in a 5-1 win over Kyrgyzstan. This was the country’s eighth win in as many qualifiers, and that has them topping their group at the end of the second round of qualifying.

Ajdin Hrustic is also on a winning run with Australia, the Socceroos defeating Jordan 1-0 on Tuesday evening. Hrustic was in the starting line-up and played until the 83rd minute. Like Japan, the victory completed a perfect second round of qualifying for Australia, who go through as group winners.
