Tactics
Bochum coach Thomas Reis has utilised two different systems this season. The ex-Eintracht player started with a 4-3-3 formation before switching to a 4-2-3-1. He then went back to his trusted 4-3-3 against Greuther Fürth last weekend – and with success, as his team won 1-0.
Absentees
Aymen Barkok and Christopher Lenz remain sidelined for Eintracht. Head Oliver Glasner also revealed in Friday’s press conference that Makoto Hasebe, Tuta, Almamy Toure and Djibril Sow are nursing minor problems after an arduous game against Olympiacos. They will all face late checks.
For Bochum, Robert Tesche, Maxim Leitsch and Tom Weilandt are missing with muscular problems, while Herbert Bockhorn, Luis Hartwig and Simon Zoller are also out injured.
Statistics
Bochum have enjoyed 23 wins against Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, more than against any other team in the league.
Eighteen of those have come on home turf, which is also a Bundesliga best for VfL.
However, they have lost the five most recent competitive encounters between the two sides. VfL currently only have a longer losing run against Bayern and Leipzig.
The Eagles have also kept a clean sheet in their last three matches against Bochum.
Head-to-head
These two teams have met 67 times in all competitions, with Eintracht winning 28 and Bochum 24. There have been 15 draws.
