“Finding the balance”

At Thursday’s press conference ahead of the clash with Köln, Oliver Glasner spoke about Eintracht rediscovering their composure and reserved special praise for Makoto Hasebe.

Oliver Glasner on…

...personnel: “Chris Lenz won't be back until after the international break. It's not a major injury but he has pain in the fascia. We don't want to risk anything. Jesper Lindström took a whack in training and could miss out.”

…Saturday’s objectives: “We definitely want to win, as was the case in our last few games. A win is always important in sport, but we mustn’t tense up. The players have great character and are fully committed. If I felt the players were letting it slide, we would tighten the reins. But it's the opposite: they want it badly. I've told them we can't tense up. That's our approach.”

…opponents 1. FC Köln: “Steffen Baumgart is doing a great job in Cologne. We can expect a very intense game. It’ll be an end-to-end encounter, although we’re determined to control the game. A difficult task awaits us.”

We’re obviously all here to be successful with Eintracht Frankfurt, but above all it’s about people.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…regaining composure: “We didn’t do any video analysis of the game in Wolfsburg but started working on tactical systems on the pitch straight away, so as not to overload the players. It’s difficult to find a balance between new content and rest. It's important that I take the pressure off the players. Of course I'd prefer things to be progressing more quickly, but I also have to exercise patience. We only had our first training session in the current setup 14 days ago.”

…communicating with his players: “My door is always open. It’s important that the players feel they can come to me. Everyone has their own requirements and problems. We’re obviously all here to be successful with Eintracht Frankfurt, but above all it’s about people.”

…Makoto Hasebe’s role: “What Makoto said makes sense. I have great respect for him, how professional he is and how he's dealing with the situation and guiding the lads in training. A fantastic character!”
