Carolina Panthers draft Amaré Barno

Timothy Chandler and Tobias Dorf announce the 189th pick live from the Deutsche Bank Park.

The official announcement came back in February that the city of Frankfurt would be hosting two regular season NFL games over the coming four years. Fans in Germany have already been able to get a taste of what to expect from the USA as part of the player draft that has been running since Thursday, which sees the NFL teams acquire the rights of the most talented college players in the country, one after the other.

The 189th pick in the sixth round of the draft went on Saturday evening to the Carolina Panthers, who picked Amaré Barno, a Linebacker from Virginia Tech Football. The announcement was made by none other than Timothy Chandler, the Frankfurt-born 29-time US international, along with Tobias Dorf, president of the German Riot e.V. – the inaugural German fan club of the Panthers.

“Hello from Germany! Here we are in the heart of Europe, where the NFL will be playing two games over the next four years,” said a delighted Chandler via an EintrachtTV live stream. “It’s an honor for me to announce this draft pick, alongside long-time Panthers fan Tobi. The Carolina Panthers have selected Amaré Barno as the 189th pick of the NFL Draft 2022. Keep Pounding! We can hardly wait for the NFL to bring American football to this great international city.”
