Back Four Competition

Eintracht had to let go of defender Maik Franz who joined Hertha BSC Berlin. The future of former team captain Chris is still open and so sporting director Hübner and manager Veh had to act on the gaps in the Eagle's defence. Gordon Schildenfeld, Constant Djakpa, Stefan Bell and Dominik Schmidt - all defending forces - are joining Frankfurt. Constant Djakpa - The Elephant Eagle

The 24 year old Ivory Coast born left back had spells at lesser known clubs in Norway and Romania after he left his home country in 2006. Two years later Bayer Leverkusen signed him and the season after he joined Hannover 96 on loan for two campaigns. He featured in 47 Bundesliga games, 38 of them for H96 and he also earned two caps for the 'Elephants' as the Ivory Coast national team is nicknamed. Last season he was substituted on during the very first game of the season - Hannover's 2-1 win over Eintracht.

Stefan Bell - "Whom The Bell Tolls"

19 year old central defender Bell (height 1,92m) is a highly rated German talent joining the Eagles on loan from Mainz 05. Last season he was at 1860 Munich in the 2. Bundesliga, also on loan, and featured in 24 games (2 goals). He won the silver 'Fritz Walter medal' in 2010, handed out by the German football association (DFB) to the most talented players each year. Stefan earned various caps for the German Under-19 and Under-21 teams.

Dominik Schmidt - First Team Debut At White Hart Lane

Berlin born Dominik Schmidt joins from Werder Bremen on a one year contract. He gave his first team debut for Bremen in the Champions League away to Tottenham Hotspur last November and featured in another CL match against Inter and 12 Bundesliga games last season. He also has the experience of 107 third division matches (3. Liga & Regionalliga). Two weeks ago he celebrated his 24th birthday on the 01st of July.
