Intriguing contest between in-form teams

Eintracht Frankfurt can leapfrog opponents Hoffenheim in the table in Saturday’s away match.

Eintracht rounded off an impressive unbeaten month of November with a 2-1 victory at home to Union Berlin last Sunday, leaving them five points clear of the relegation play-off place and just two points shy of the European spots.

Opportunity for club record

The Eagles can climb further up the table and overtake upcoming opponents TSG Hoffenheim – currently fifth on 20 points, two ahead of Eintracht – with victory on Saturday. The hosts, like Oliver Glasner’s men, go into the game on the back of two successive league wins. A 2-0 victory at home to Leipzig was followed by a thrilling 6-3 success at bottom club Greuther Fürth, where strike duo Georginio Rutter (two goals) and Ihlas Bebou (hat-trick) stole the show.

Victory in Sinsheim would see the Eagles record seven straight wins against a fellow Bundesliga side for the first time in the club’s history.

Reunion with Gacinovic

Eintracht will also come up against Mijat Gacinovic, who left Frankfurt for Hoffenheim in summer 2020. As well as that reunion, there could be a comeback on the cards as Christopher Lenz, who has missed the last 14 matches in all competitions, is likely to return to the squad after recovering from injury. As things stand, that would leave Glasner with a full squad to pick from.
