André Silva to leave Eintracht

The Portuguese international joins Leipzig after two successful years at Frankfurt.

André Silva was under contract with Eintracht until 30 June 2023, having joined the club in September 2019, originally on loan, from AC Milan before SGE made the transfer a permanent one ahead of the 2020/21 season.

In his two seasons at the club, the striker blossomed into one of the stars of the Bundesliga, helping Eintracht finish ninth and then fifth in the league.

André Silva performed incredibly well for Eintracht Frankfurt over the past few years.

The forward made a total of 71 appearances across all competitions, scoring no fewer than 45 goals in the process. Last season, Silva broke the club record for goals in the Bundesliga with 28, two more than Bernd Hölzenbein had managed back in 1976/77.

Silva was also voted Bundesliga Player of the Month in January 2021, and together with Daichi Kamada he was responsible for the Goal of the Month in June 2020.

“André Silva performed incredibly well for Eintracht Frankfurt over the past few years," said board member for sport Markus Krösche. “Unfortunately it was unavoidable that he would move to a new club during this window, since the player exercised a clause to that effect included in his contract. André played a major role in Eintracht qualifying for European football last season, and we would like to wish him all the very best for the future.”
