Draw in Fürth friendly

Alario was on the scoresheet and Dina Ebimbe made his comeback as Eintracht drew 1-1 with Greuther Fürth in a friendly on Thursday afternoon.

With 11 players currently away on international duty and Jesper Lindström injured, the friendly was a chance for players who haven’t featured as regularly to get some game time, with the likes of Christopher Lenz, Almamy Toure, Timothy Chandler and Lucas Alario named in the starting line-up.

Schaffran saves from Max and Chandler

The unfamiliar Eintracht team took a while to settle into the game, and it was Fürth who registered the first shot on goal when ex-Eagle Branimir Hrgota fired straight at Diant Ramaj. The hosts gradually began to take control of proceedings and created their first real chance on 18 minutes, when Philipp Max’s left-wing cross was tipped behind by Fürth goalkeeper Leon Schaffran. Six minutes later, Max’s corner was headed over by Toure.

The next opportunity also resulted from a corner, when the ball was cleared as far as Chandler, who tested Schaffran with a sweet first-time volley. The action quietened down after that, with neither side able to make a breakthrough before half-time.

Sub Ache with quick reply

It didn’t take long for the deadlock to be broken after the restart. A mix-up in the Fürth defence allowed Aurelio Buta to nip in and set up Alario, who composed himself before burying the ball into the empty net. The lead lasted just four minutes though, as Eintracht loanee Ragnar Ache – a half-time substitute – slotted in the equaliser from close range.

The Bundesliga 2 side had the better chances to win it after that, with Ache firing just wide and Julian Green striking the post from long range. At the other end, Buta miscued on his weaker left foot. There was a bittersweet moment for Eintracht in the 74th minute, when Toure was forced off and replaced by Junior Dina Ebimbe, making his comeback from the ankle injury he suffered in January. Youngsters Mehdi Loune and Divaio Bobson also got some minutes at Deutsche Bank Park, where it ended 1-1.
